Here is what I found interesting the last week or so about intranet, digital workplaces, SharePoint, Office 365, internal communication, enterprise search, usability and the future.
This IntraTeamNews covers: The intelligent digital workplace is coming but we need to shore up the foundations. Award-winning intranet. Writing for intranets. Work-arounds in search. Executive’s guide to AI.
The integrated digital workplace is the big trend. We’re finally making some progress and seeing some shifts, with vendors like Slack saying that collaboration tools are the perfect hub to integrate the digital workplace and bring hundreds of apps together.
Organizations, departments and functions need to have a strategy for what they want to achieve around the idea of the “intelligent workplace” if any progress is to be made. This could be one component of a broader digital workplace strategy.
Jacqui Randle, Head of Intranet and Behaviour Change, Digital Communications at the Scottish Government and her team are responsible for transforming their intranet into a new digital workplace. Their new platform called Saltire won a gold global award at the StepTwo Intranet and Digital Workplace Awards 2017 and will be presented at #IntraTeam18.
Do you know how prevalent work-arounds are in your organization? If not, maybe now is a good time to start looking, assuming of course you have a good search implementation and a team that can work through the analytics.
